Went to the surgery of a local doctor and relative to say hi. We sat and chatted whilst patients, one by one whispered ailments into his ear. A simple walk down the high street can take a couple of hours because you’re stopped for a chat and offered cups of tea or invited to dinner by people who new someone in your family when they were little or have some dealings with you etc. etc. Maybe people in the UK will be more like this in the future, and the need to make ‘appointments’ just to see friends and acquaintances will go out of fashion.
